Van Nuys Median Update 4/8/2008
The Village is building a median on Van Nuys Boulevard between Hortense and Kling that will mirror the median currently on Ventura Boulevard. The drawings have been submitted to the Bureau of Engineering (BOE) in order to begin the B-permit process. The BID is also working with the Department of Transportation (DOT) due to the fact that they are concerned that the palms trees may affect traffic signal visibility. In order to expedite the process, the BID has submitted two sets of drawings to both the BOE and DOT, one set with palm trees and one without.
Troller Mayer, the same landscape architect that designed the Ventura median, designed the Van Nuys median. The BID is again using the services of Thomsen Landscaping for the construction of the median, as they complete projects quickly and they do an amazing job. We’re hoping to obtain our permits and begin construction on the median within the next few weeks. This median will also have a double-sided monument sign installed that will be similar to the Ventura Boulevard median.
